Community Shred Day

United Bank & Trust, in partnership with the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce and the Marshall County Landfill, offers community residents the opportunity to have their sensitive documents securely shredded at their upcoming Community Shred Day event.

This two-hour event will be held on Saturday, April 24, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the parking lot at United Bank & Trust, 2101 S. Center Street.  As a drive-through service, individuals can remain in their vehicles while volunteers unload their paperwork, to be shredded on-site. There is no cost for this service, but there is a five box limit.

“We are pleased to offer the event again, after taking last year off due to the pandemic,” says UBT Senior Vice President, Jennifer Hass.  “Over the years, this event has kept over 100,000 pounds of paper out of the landfill, instead recycling it into new paper products.”

The Chamber has co-hosted this event with the bank for over a decade and this year, Marshall County Landfill has also joined in this partnership.  Recycling Education Coordinator, Jenn Clemann, commented “We encourage waste diversion in Marshall County and are happy to support this community event.”

Suggested items to dispose of during the Shred Day event include bank statements, tax records, medical records, canceled or unused checks, pay stubs and any other paperwork containing personal data such as account numbers or social security numbers.
